Good Morning To you all
As the WL members paid their respects for those who went before us yesterday, (And I am sure you noticed the Flags on both the First and eighteenth greens (Dave pass on mine and all the WL lads thanks to you are your team please for this), the featured image this week shows a picture that a work colleague and his wife set up every year for their small community in Asley Bridge. Thanks to all those that took 2 minutes out of their round to pay their respects, especially those around 9, 10, 11 and 15 - Impeccable 👏👏👏👏.
So on to the days entertainment and our winners were 'Our Kid' Ged and Son Sean Kelly (Pictured above)with their 62 points (40 out 22 Back) enough to take the first place and the 15 points, all that whilst also playing their Jones jug against Gamble / McGloughlin, and winning - but the 3.3 and 2.8 shot loss each may be detrimental to their chances of beating Bell / Parkinson in Round 2 of the Matchplay this coming Sunday. Runners-up this week were Nashy and Sub Slingers with their 61 (39 out 22 back). Another Sub in the winners circle, and a 1.7 shot loss for both (Nashy now on -3.2) and Frozen after week 5 for 1 week.
Fantastic response to knockouts being played Sunday - cleared up loads of games in both Cups, and leaves a hand full of games left in both to be decided on Sunday - Thank you all - but now I start nagging you to get your 2nd matches played (Cosmo and the Colonel await their Qtr Final opponents in the Jones Jug already) - Deadline is the 14th December - I attach the Formats to be played 23rd, 30th, 7th and 14th below.
Massive thanks this week to all the subs that played - 11 of us in total ensured those that needed a sub got a sub, and some of us even picked some money up. I was one of those subs this week standing if for Mr McIntosh with Ed, as we took Flynny and Karl hayden to the cleaners in the side bet of £5 and 50p bits - £9.50 later, free go on the Joker for the Big Lad and 'Concerned from Hopwood'👍👍
Some pairs have already used 3 subs in the first 4 weeks of the WL - this means they cant use another sub and score any points in the WL in weeks 5, 6 or 7, it does not mean they can't enter the Comp with a Sub and Win it (The sub will not count as part of the 6 Sub allocation - and as in the case of Raffa / Armo, they have used Tony C 3 times, but does not mean they cant use him again, however they cant score WL points). Your subs allocation will roll over to week 8 if not used your Quota, so in essence if you have not used a sub in the First 7 weeks, then you can use the 6 (ot what ever you have left) in weeks 8 to the Final week. I know Gaz Hall and Eamonn Sale have decided not to have a Sub this coming Sunday due to the format, and that makes sense, as week 6 is Multiplier and you need 2 players for 18 holes in that.
Well done to Coco for his second NP win in 3 weeks, bettering his last effort with a shot of 3ft 1", which under normal circumstances would win the overall, but Mark 'Van der Valk' Holland still holds the lead with 2ft 4".
Apologies to the lads at the end of the field as they got a bit wet I understand, however as I wanted the better weather I ordered it between 8.30 and 12.30.
Gaz Hall thought that we still deducted 2 shots from the sub if you had won - This is not the case anymore as it was dropped a couple of years ago, only the actual players that won / come 2nd lose the 2 and 1 shot - but at least it gave Macca something to moan about all the way round as he went from 10 to 8 😂😂😂.
So approx 25% of the way into the league, and some early contenders finding consistency in the early weeks, but what affect will handicap reductions have on the likes of this weeks Winners and runners-up. Will we again have the eventual winners not winning a single week or coming 2nd as Holty and Mozzer did in the Last WL? only time will tell, but there are a lot of Duffed Tee sots and Missed putts to come between now and March that's for sure.
Good to see that for the 2nd week running we had a full quota playing, as at least 1 of the 32 pairings had taken to the Course, thanks again for your support.
I just want to put out there a kindly reminder about keeping up with the group in front, as it does get frustrating when you see a group that have fallen behind and then they start to look for balls when the group behind are stood on the Tee, (Wave them through) it has a major knock on affect to those behind, so please bare that in mind as we go through the WL period.
Have a Great Week ahead
