A big thank you to everyone who entered the latest Winter Open in our series on 26 February 2026. After the heavy rainfall we have had across January and February, it has been a real positive to see the course continuing to perform well.
Our ongoing maintenance programme is making a clear difference, keeping conditions consistent and enjoyable for competition golf. We are pleased to say the event was played with all play to summer greens, and with no fairway mats in use, which is a great credit to the work happening out on the course.
Scoring was tight at the top, with first and second both finishing on 40 points.
1st, Wes Dickins (Bury Golf Club), 40 points, £50 voucher
2nd, Christopher McLaren, 40 points, £30 voucher
3rd, Michael Windell, 39 points, £20 voucher
4th, Michael Whalley (Nelson Golf Club), 34 points, £10 voucher
With another event completed, the Order of Merit is now very close heading into the final round of the series.
Steve Greenwood (Ghyll GC) leads on 103 points
Wes Dickins (Bury GC) is in 2nd on 102 points
Michael Whalley (Nelson GC) sits 3rd on 98 points
The office will be in touch to arrange the prize vouchers. Visitors will receive Pro Shop credit. Two’s prize balls can be collected from the Pro Shop.
