Winter League Week 11

Mick's Report...

Good Day to you all

Well as another year comes to an end it begs the question what does the next one have in waiting for us all? the only thing we know for sure is we have no Idea, but lets hope its a better one than this one has been, that way we all get a Happier one. On a Personal note, I ended the year by asking Sandra to Marry me on Xmas day, to which she said Yes thankfully, so as we have no photo's of the winning pair, or the runners up - then I will abuse my position and fill it with the Happy couple to be.

I have no idea what the weather was like up there yesterday, but I hope it was similar to down here, as we had clear Blue skies and the temp was about 4 Degrees. How did those that played the Mens Red Tees course for the first time, find it? I think its the hardest course we have got.

2 Players who thought it was a little easier than the Others where Marshy and Martin, as they knocked it round in 58 to take the winnings and the 15 points in the league. It was only a matter of time before they picked up first place in the league and it had surprised me to see them struggle each week to be honest. Our Runners up where Gedders and his sub Bomber, who came home with a 60 to take the 12 points and 2nd place prize money. Only 27 pairs played this week, with a couple being unavailable and others maybe testing the water at Pastures new. All I would ask is that you keep me posted on your availability each week of whether you are playing or not, as it then saves me chasing you up.

Whilst I am down here in Plymouth, I obvs need a little assistance with cards and the scoring, thankfully I can always fall back and rely on Dave Bell to check and scrutinise the cards for me, which he has done and forwarded me the results /scores from Yesterday, so thanks again Dave for doing that. I shall be back this weekend, and may even look for a game over the weekend.

On the Knockout front the Richardsons beat Cosmo and the Colonel on the 20th Hole in the Jones Jug Matchplay and move into the Semi Final, where they will now face the Kelly's for a Place in the Final. Maddocks / Flynn lost their Wiselow Best Card to Jolley / Wilcock who have also moved into the Semi Final and await their Opponents. If you can try to sort out your Knockouts for this coming Sunday, I would appreciate it - Final date for the Quarter Finals is the 11th

Mr Vice

Only 4 x 2's this week, with our Vice Captain scoring a 2 at the 1st, 10th and 14th holes - but only 2 of those counted - however it wasnt a bad pick up for his partner Holty (Great Photo by the Way) for doing Nothing - £13.50 as the 2's paid £6.75 to each player

Our Nearest Pin winner this week was VDV (Mark Holland) with 6ft 7", making it 2 shots now in the shoot out Final. Just want to say thanks to Bomber for looking after the NP, it has been a great introduction to the WL (Thanks to Mike 'Bodmin' Moore) but it needs to be looked after as I would not have the time, especially on the last week of the league. I know Bomber has personal things going on, so I appreciate him taking time away from this to keep on top of this for me - Bomber is pictured as the main Photo showing off his new 'Newton Heaths'. For the record Bomber there is a video showing me getting up off the knee like an Salmon going upstream..........

All that is left for me to say is that I Wish you all a Very Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2026
