Winter League 5

Good day to you all

It was nice to see the weather take a turn for the better yesterday, after getting the tail end of Storm Claudia most of Friday, when in all honesty I thought the Course may be shut over the weekend, but the work on some drains has now helped in draining some of the areas on the course, we would normally see drenched, so well done to dave and the team for the work put in last winter on those areas.

So for the 3rd week out of 5 we have yet another Sub in the Winners / Runners-up Circle (with a sub appearing in 5 out of the top 6 places), as Caldon subbing for Sid, teamed up with woody (Both Pictured above) and took the Spoils on the day with their 39 Points. Woody can be seen on the main Photo taking a rest, as his back was hurting him apparently after carrying Caldon on the Front 9, and obviously the fall down the hill did the Trick as Caldon kicked in on the back 9, birdying 15,16 and 18 and amassing 10 points for the back 6 holes. Runners up on the day where Dan Crook and Mark 'Van der Valk' Holland, (Lost on a Back 6 countback with 8 Points) the First Time Dan has been in the League since joining and in the absence of his partner Dave 'Lord Lucan' Hassall, it was nice to see him pick something up, even though it isn't everyday a Crook gets Robbed!! Unfortunately The pair could not score any league points, as using a sub this week meant it would have been 4 within the first 5 weeks, when you can only use 3 within the first 7 weeks - Nothing stopping a sub being used though and winning the comp, you just cant score WL points.

Round 1 of the Knockouts have now been concluded, thank you, but the 'Broken Record' of "get you games played asap", starts again.....................You must contact your opponents in both KO's to arrange your game, do not think it will automatically default to the last week - I have all contact details for you, if you need them. As I posted this morning on WhatsApp, the next 4 weeks formats are all 'Matchplay Friendly' - Please let me know if you arrange to play your Match in either KO.

So 5 weeks in already, 25% of the Scheduled league played, and 2 points separate the top 4, with Nashy and Guy (Son of Turkey Teeth) leading the way on 43 points, in 2nd place, and no doubt with a Nosebleed, is 'Our Kid' Ged and son Sean on 42. I know it is very early and the Good form shown by those near the Top will need to be maintained, and whilst playing well and consistent, it will mean their Handicaps will be coming down all the Time. Nobody can be discounted at this early stage, but I have my eye on a couple of pairs I would expect to see there at the end.

Next weeks format is Stableford Multiplier - so whatever points you and your partner score on a hole are multiplied, however if you score 3 points on a hole and you partner blobs it then 3 x 0=0 - its a Tough Format to both play well. Handicap reductions for this will be tailored, once doing the results due to the possible wide range of scoring in volved, so if 3rd place has 68 Points and gets 10 points, and 4th place has 62 points and gets 9 points, handicap reduction will be 0.8 for 68 and 0.7 for 62 (That's an example)

Well done to Dave McIntosh on becoming the latest to book his place in the Shootout Final, with his NP win yesterday - Although in comparison to the rest it is the Furthest away, it does not matter as it was the nearest yesterday so well done.

Currently the 2's holes next week are 1 and 14 - this may change if we again face 15 holes being open.
