Winter League 10

Mick's Report...

Good Morning

Before we get into the tale of Sundays scores - Neil 'Coco' Winstanley says Hello from Melbourne, says he is thinking of you all, and will see you on the 11th Jan.................Les said you can stay there, its much better playing with a Sub every week!!

Well glad to see that the weather was in your favour yesterday, and hopefully the 'Light Rain' did not spoil your enjoyment on the 'Shortest Day' of the year - Onwards and upwards now as the days start to become longer, and hopefully Dryer.

Our Winners on the day where Flanny and Kenny (Pictured above), their 2nd win of the WL and now sees them jump in to contention, but will the fact they are now +2 and 8 crucify them for the remainder of the League? Our Runners up on the day where Raffa and Armo, a position they are not normally used to, and are normally bringing up the field, but a Great knock sees them pick up the 12 Points and a Bit of dosh, so well done.

The Rollover for the 2's meant there was £113 in the pot this week, and with the Format being Foursomes, I thought it best that all Holes should be included this week (I was going to just have 17, as its the easiest Par 3), and we had a total of 8 - pocketing each player £7.06 (apologies for the earlier omission of 2 pairs - however if you don't at least circle the 2 or put it in the 2's Box on the card, then I reserve the right to not give it you - Going forward you get 1 Life for this, repeat it and you wont get the Money - It just makes it easier to spot when checking the cards)

Our Nearest Pin winner this week was Dave Gamble who stiffed it to 1ft 7" to take the lead at the top of the Leader-board for the Nearest overall - Unfortunately the pair had picked his sub, Mark 'Van der Valk' Holland to Tee off the Odd Tees - it must have been disheartening, knowing under any other format of Golf its a Gimme 2 - but then to have to get a wedge out to play the 2nd shot.......I think the Northern Irish twang may have included a Few 'Fecks' in there - See picture Below - Ouch!!!

Well we are now Halfway through the WL, and we have joint Leaders, Sid and Woody (New Pairing in the League) and Cosmo and The Colonel (Also a New Pairing, but Veterans of the league itself) - Sid and Woody have won Twice, Cosmo and TP have not even come 2nd, but picked up 4 x 10 points - However their lowest at present is 5 Points, so can they remain consistent as they will have to in order to take the Crown, but whilst they do that their Handicaps will keep dropping. It is good to see some Different pairs up there, but just keep your eye on the 2023/24 Champions Wilcock / Jolley.

Thanks to those trying to sort their KO's out it is appreciated - some are arranged for this coming Sunday and the 4th, I know the odd one cant be played until the 11th - but still the sooner you can play it gives me more options to get other formats in play.

Apologies for the lateness of the Report, but was waiting for the Handicap update to be done, as doing it myself takes ages.

By the time this gets posted, I will either be just about to set off for Plymouth, or actually there, Then that will be me until the 2nd or 3rd of Jan, so I take this opportunity to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, a Year I will be glad to see the back of, and whilst you lift a Glass, please remember those that are no longer with us, as I will do.

Next weeks format is 4BBB Medal, but this will be played off the Red Tees on the Mens card - This means that the 5th, 15th and 18th are all Par 3's and the 6th and 9th are Par 4'S - Stroke Indices are different as well.

If anybody needs to call me, then please do it on Whatsapp, the Phone signal in the area we are staying is none existent...................

Have a Great Break, enjoy all the Family being there and I hope Santa brings you all that you want.

Kex
