Winter Open Results, 29 January 2026

A big thank you to everyone who entered our Winter Open on 29th January 2026. It was a cold one, but thankfully dry, and it was great to see another strong field out enjoying the course.

We are also really pleased with how the course is playing right now. The ongoing maintenance programme is doing exactly what it should, keeping conditions consistent and fair for everyone. That means all play is to summer greens, and we are not using fairway mats, which always makes the day feel that bit closer to “proper golf”, even in the middle of winter.

Competition Results

This week’s scoring was impressive, with a tight battle across the top of the leaderboard.

1st, Cliff Ogden, 41 points, £70 voucher
Cliff took the win with an excellent 41 points, setting the pace in a competitive field and finishing clear at the top.

2nd, Jamie Diamond, 39 points, £60 voucher
Second place went to Jamie Diamond, visiting from Whitefield Golf Club, who posted 39 points. With the scores so close, it came down to a card play-off to separate the places.

3rd, David Dredge, 39 points, £50 voucher
Just behind in third was David Dredge, also on 39 points, narrowly missing out on second after the card play-off.

4th, Ashley Dawson, 37 points, £40 voucher
Ashley Dawson finished in fourth with 37 points, again with places decided by a card play-off.

5th, Stephen Greenwood, 37 points, £30 voucher
Rounding out the top five was Stephen Greenwood, also on 37 points, pipped by Ashley on the card.

Updated Order of Merit

With another event complete, the Order of Merit is taking shape nicely. Here is the latest at the top end of the table:

Michael McGuire, Preston Golf Club, leads on 65 points
Mark Holland (Bury Golf Club), Colin Stephenson (Bury Golf Club), and Michael Whalley, Nelson Golf Club, share second place on 64 points
Ian Foulkes (Bury Golf Club) is in fifth on 62 points
