Winter League - Week 8 Results - 17/12/2023

Good Evening all

Well, after a 'Winter Break', the league Kicked in again on Sunday, with a nice simple 4/BBB S/ford format in great conditions. Be it a little cold, but what do we expect for the 17th of December in Bury? Our Winners this week were the Flynn's (John - Dad  and Lewis - Lad) with an impressive 42 points - 27 of which were scored on the Front 9, and I know its a short front 9 for the WL, but its the same for all pairs playing - so well done to both on a great score (John is pictured Left - This was taken on a week when he bailed and let his Old man down, Tut Tut Lewis). Runners up on the day were 'Hair Flick' and 'Passporttwo' (Gaz Taylor and Rob Bamping) with their 41 Points, beating Mark 'Seeless' Seymour and Steve 'MC Hammer' Hamer on a CPO on the back 9 - (Just to clarify that the back 9 is the back 9 holes on the card, not the last 9 holes you played - i will get asked) with 17 points to their 16 points.

Thanks to you all for sorting out your Knockouts, especially the biggest pain as in the matchplay - all 2nd Round matches in the Jones Jug are complete and the Qtr Final Draw is attached - You have until 21st Jan to play this, but I would appreciate this being Played earlier if you can arrange it. We are just 1 game outstanding in the Wiselow Best Card , to make up the Qtr Final Draw and that will take place this Sunday - so again if you can play your games Earlier than the 21st.

This coming Sunday's format will be the Good old 4 Clubs and a putter Medal format - as before and for the sake of the Course, I would ask that pairs share Bags / Lecky trollies, but not clubs. I have attached the Format for sunday - the only thing that might change are the holes that will be closed on the day - I will be in contact with Greens about that - and finding out if any holes are planned to be shorter, Such as the 3rd and 16th off Temp Tees at present.

The Pro is running a Comp on Saturday 22nd, so lets all try and play in it and give him some support - there are still a few spots left so get your name down, or make up a couple of the single players who have put down.

Finally if you are doing nothing New Years Eve, then get up to the Club for an evening with 'The Voice' Dave McDougall, which will be Free to all as well as some free Grub - You wont get that anywhere else on NYE other than at home, so come and show John and Nikki (and Macca and Cosmo) some support in their new role at the club - Hey you never know you might even surprise yourself and enjoy it
