Good Day to you all
Well February is now here, and as we briskly move into the 2nd month of the Year, we are now left with only 5 weeks left to play as you all start (well some of you do) jockying for position at the turn onto the Home Straight.
Our Winners on the day were Andy Hirst and his Sub Macca who scored 60 points, with 38 of them being on the Back 9 - they beat Gaz Hall and Steve Kelsall by way of a CPO on the back 9, as they only had 37 Points. As we all know there are no maps or pictures on scorecards of how players record there score on each hole, however Macca told me yesterday he had hit a good drive on 15, and then thinned the backside off his wedge, and it approached the hole at 100mph, hit the flag and dropped in for a 2, not only did that massively contribute to his and Andy's 60 points, it netted them £20 each as Andy also had a 2 at the 10th - Well done both and enjoy the 2.9 shot loss
The Nearest the Pin winner this week was Guy Hamer, who put his shot to 1ft and 10", unfortunately 3" short of the best shot of 1ft 7" - Great Effort. On any other day surely 'Les' Battersby's 3ft 9" would have taken the Prize, but alas it was not to be, as he 3 stabbed for a 4!!!!
We now have our Knockout Finalists - in the Match-play it will be contested between the Richrdsons and Dave McIntosh / Ed Jones. Can the Father and Son win the KO, which if memory strikes me correctly will be a First in the WL (well at least as long as I have been involved) or will the actual Sponsor of the 'Jones Jug' itself (Ed Jones) Take his own Trophy Home. This Final is arranged for this coming Sunday at 9.30, however due to some personal circumstances for one of the Finalists, it may be moved to a Later date, but at present the final goes ahead as planned this Sunday. The Unfortunate Losers in the Semi Finals were Willy and Dave and Ged and Sean - well done in getting so far.
Best card Final will be between Guy and Nashy v 'Mrs Browns Boys - This Final again will be held this coming Sunday, and I wish both pairs the very best of luck - Yet again we have another Father and Son Pairing in a Final, can it be a Family Double for the Richardsons and the Browns? We may find out next Sunday. The Losing Semi Finalists were Les and Coco, and losing their 2nd Semi of the Day were Willy and Dave - mind you at their age they should be happy reaching a Semi!!!
The league took another twist this week, whilst Sid and Woody maintained pole position, their lead was cut to 3 points by Cosmo / Colonel and Guy / Nashy. Cosmo / Colonel have done really well not to win or come 2nd - but their consistency has seen them lose 3 shots each as it stands.
Knocking off will now begin for those who have played the 14 Rounds, whilst those who have played less get a chance to record at least 1 more score to their total.
Unfortunately I have no pictures of either the winning pair or the Runners up - So I post a picture of the 'Hood' who was the Baddie in Thunderbirds - AKA Macca
As you may have noticed this week, not a lot of pairs recorded a score as 11 pairs had a '0' and when we get to fousomes / Greensomes and the Damian formats, the same will happen again - so playing well over the closing weeks is a must for all those in with a Chance of lifting the Fantastic 'Dave Boyle Memorial' Trophy (Pictured as the Feature).
Have a Top week.
