Winter League 7 (Week 8)

Morning All

Another full field took to the course for the least Favourite format of most, but not all, as Bogey made its only appearance in the WL. This format in my honest opinion does not reward good golf, unlike the other Medal / Stableford formats we play - but some do like to play it, hence it being on the 'Rota' for the League.

I know some ended up getting wet yesterday, but I cant apologise for the weather as its the only thing I can't control in the WL, what I would say is that you pay the price sometimes for wanting a Lie in..................Those out early really enjoyed the conditions apparently, especially Spike and Charlie as they came in with 9 up and took the 15 points and £48 each (Pictured above) - well done gents and a deserved 3.1 shot loss on your Handicap. Runners up this week where Dave 'Proctor' Gamble and Sub Dave Slingsby on 8up............This is after after Proctor had won last week and was expressing his disdain at being off 2 to me midweek, as he picked up more Money and now leads the Money list (See below attachment) - They pipped Scully / Flynny who also finished 8up, on a Countback on the Back 6 Holes.

Thanks to all who played their knockouts, leaving only a handful now being left to play this coming Sunday - if this Sunday falls victim of the weather, then the final week to play this round will be pushed back to the 21st, if you and your partner are not both available then the tie will be decided on the Flip of a coin instead, that may seem unfair, however plenty of time has elapsed since the last round to play your game.

Next Weeks format returns to the simple 4BBB Medal - with the 2's holes being 1 and 14. For the record I have changed the Format on the 28th of this month to 4BBB Medal, but off the Red Tees on the Mens card - This is by far the most difficult Course that we have and has differing Stroke Indices and No PAR 5's.

I was having a conversation with Big Ian and the Vice Midweek about another format in golf, which is different to the normal, and it is Called Bisque - The amount of shots you have are used after you have played a hole - so if you have a handicap of 6, you can use those 6 shots anywhere on the course (Stroke Indices play no part in this) up to a maximum of 2 per hole. It may need further discussion to take a bigger look at it, but we may play this before the end of the league.

As the WL is finishing on the 8th March, that means that those not joining next year on or around the 1st March, wont be able to play in the last week of the WL, however I just want to let them know, any Monies they have won in the league or Knockouts will be honured by way of a Voucher for the Pro Shop with James.
